Nshimba Wa Mwanza Elvis is a visionary leader and international advocate for social change through sports. As the Founder and CEO of Umoja Sport Foundation, Elvis has dedicated over a decade to leveraging sports as a transformative tool to address critical community challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo and across Africa. Under his leadership, the foundation has trained over 8,000 teachers, coaches, and community leaders across seven African countries, directly impacting the lives of more than 50,000 individuals in the Greater Katanga region by integrating sports into education and promoting health awareness.

Elvis has pioneered groundbreaking initiatives, including the distribution of free menstrual cups to marginalized women and female students, benefiting over 120 women and 800 girls. By integrating sports into the curricula of 60 schools, his efforts have not only promoted physical fitness but also imparted essential life skills to youth. Additionally, his economic empowerment programs for young women have significantly improved reproductive health, living conditions, and self-sufficiency, fostering sustainable community development.

A staunch believer in the power of collaboration, Elvis has established impactful partnerships with local organizations to drive systemic change. Through these collaborations, Umoja Sport has introduced innovative solutions to menstrual health management, becoming the first organization in the country to distribute menstrual cups free of charge. His work exemplifies a commitment to creating inclusive, community-driven initiatives that uplift and empower.

Elvis's accomplishments have earned him recognition as a Mandela Washington Fellow and Ashoka Fellow, reflecting his dedication to civic engagement and innovative leadership. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in English and African Culture, along with certifications in nonprofit strategies, scaling social impact, and safeguarding in sports from global institutions such as the Berkeley Haas School of Business and UEFA.

For his Mountaintop Fellowship, Elvis is spearheading the project “Malaria Awareness and Prevention through Sports in the Democratic Republic of Congo.” This initiative aims to reduce malaria rates by leveraging sports to educate communities about prevention, promote proper mosquito net usage, and increase vaccination acceptance, exemplifying the power of sports as a catalyst for health and societal transformation.
