What inspired you to join Mountaintop?
"As an aspiring climate economist, I envision creating systemic changes in the broader South Asian region on climate change adaptation and mitigation through rigorous research and evidence-based policymaking. I am inspired to join the Mountain Top Aspire Institute Fellowship, as I believe it will be crucial in developing my leadership skills for achieving my vision."
Prajjwal is a Research Associate at the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development. Over the past ten months as an Aspire STEAM Fellow, he worked on a research project titled Nexus between Climate Vulnerability and Migration: Evidence from Nepal. He has been deeply engaged in climate change research since his undergraduate years.
One of his notable works, Nexus between Climate Change and Inequality in Nepal: Evidence from Long-Run Temperature Deviations, was recognized as a finalist for the Best Undergraduate Paper Award by the International Atlantic Economic Society. This paper was presented at their international conference in Philadelphia and published in the Atlantic Economic Journal.
As an aspiring climate economist, Prajjwal envisions creating systemic change in South Asia through rigorous research and evidence-based policymaking. He believes the region holds immense potential in renewable energy, with the capacity not only to drive its green growth but also to support the developed West in transitioning to cleaner energy sources.
Through the Mountaintop Aspire Institute Fellowship, Prajjwal aims to harness leadership skills crucial to advancing his mission of driving impactful change in the region and beyond.
